Kolt Hudson is an Americana and folk singer-songwriter originally from Tupelo, Mississippi. His music is rooted in the people, places, and experiences that shaped him, think front porch conversations, backroad drives, hard seasons, and the kind of stories that stay with you long after they're told.
Born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect that left him with only half of a functioning heart, Kolt learned from an early age that life rarely unfolds the way we expect it to. As a kid, he dreamed of playing sports and joining the military, but those dreams were eventually replaced by something else entirely when he picked up a guitar at fourteen years old.
What started as a hobby quickly became an obsession. Before long, he was writing songs of his own, finding a voice through music that he couldn't find anywhere else. The dream became clear: leave Mississippi, move to Tennessee, and build a life around music.
In 2023, he did exactly that.
Today, Kolt lives in a small town outside Nashville where he spends his days building guitars at Gibson and his nights performing wherever people are willing to listen. Whether he's playing a songwriter round, a neighborhood bar, a festival stage, or a living room, his goal remains the same, to tell honest stories that make people feel a little less alone.
Influenced by artists like Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers, John Prine, and Noah Kahan, Kolt's songs blend the storytelling traditions of Americana and folk with themes of resilience, love, loss, small-town life, and the beauty hidden in ordinary moments. His perspective is shaped by a life lived with the understanding that time is precious, and that the best songs are often the truest ones.
When he's not writing or performing, you'll probably find him chasing live music, exploring Tennessee backroads, or dreaming up the next song with a guitar in his hands.
